about

Marco Simioni - FOMO
DU-ESSTRO3

Patience always pays off, or so Marco thinks. The first drafts of "FOMO" date back to 2018 as a result of a fruitful exchange of ideas with great artists, above all, Gian Luigi Mendozza (founderof the OTTA Research Lab in Rome), whose exchange unearthed the foundation for Fragment Of Complex Idealism, Dot With Illumination and Escapism.

The record's name comes from the English acronym "Fear Of Missing Out”, a social phenomenon that has always existed, but which nowadays, is often correlated to the digitisation of everyday life because of today’s constant exposure to social media.

FOMO corresponds to that fear of being excluded, the dread, and anxiety of missing pleasant and fulfilling experiences involving acquaintances or friends. This title, instead, derives from the exact opposite of what the Italian artist is experiencing from a musical perspective. As Red Bull Music Academy's Shawn Reynaldo said about him in his blog “First Floor”:
“Many artists these days will rush to release a track as soon as it’s finished—and based on what I’ve heard on most Bandcamp Fridays, some producers aren’t even waiting that long—but Marco Simioni takes a more patient approach."

This album picks up from where Marco left Phaneron and develops further down the same path stylistic-wise: rough tracks with sharp edges, experimental sound design, abstract and melodic at times, with some Techno sparks here and there.

The release includes two videos and an NFT series from Marco's longtime collaborator Esstro9, born Eduardo Medina Salazar, who took care of the artwork of the album too. NFTs will be auctioned on Foundation.app, via Detroit Underground's account; these will be alternative takes on Fragment Of Complex Idealism and Dot With Illumination's tracks and relative videos.

Hope you enjoy it, 死は存在しない、人生は夢である。
