Growing up in Chicago and getting into music production in early 90’s, SIM80 has been focusing on electro and various forms of techno for quite some time. “My first setup consisted of a rusty briefcase computer fished out of the garbage, an old DOS program called Texture, an Ensoniq Mirage and my cousins Sequential Circuits 6- track. I began to experiment and learn how to write my first tracks on that gear. That process sparked something deep that has been part of my music ever since.” His influences come from sci-fi film soundtracks, video games and environmental recordings of the world around him. With recent releases showing a multi-faceted embrace of sound design and drum programming, his hard hitting yet melodic sound pushes into unique territory. In his work life, he heads up an interactive design team, working on projects for web, video and motion graphics.

SIM80’s debut album on Detroit Underground, Kinetic Origins, plots a cinematic, atmospheric journey of electro. Rooted in a solid foundation, yet pulling away from the core to reveal new and interesting dynamics.
