The Lost And Found Psychosis of Eight Frozen Modules V.1

-

I watch you from below the fire escape as I scavenge amongst the crumbled asphalt, moving chunks of the homes we once had. The bricks of my fireplace.

It used to be warm here, but my breath steams the air before me and my fingertips are blue. I move about quickly, finding crumbs to satisfy an ever shrinking stomach; it growls and I watch you tremble in the wake of its echo.

Whisper to myself. There are voices in the distance, but my own should keep them away. I want to tell you a story about a woman with a weapon and the shrieks of her anger, but that was long ago. I might have been that woman. The details are fuzzy now and I am on a different mission to survive. The fireplace crackled that night though. I remember that. There’s crackling now, but it’s just the ground splitting open, great gashes leading to the center of an earth that’s died.

I don’t think you want to hear that. I think you want quiet now, but I can’t give that to you. If it’s not my whispers, it’ll be someone else’s and mine are safer. Inconsistent at best.

Colored glass crunches beneath my soles and the prisms shift. This is our kaleidoscopic apocalypse.

Do you remember when you could see the sun? You ask me, turning your head about blindly.

Yes, I hiss.

Working under his Eight Frozen Modules alias, this two-album project is titled ‘The Lost and Found Psychosis of Eight Frozen Modules’ and is his first release on Detroit Underground. Both albums are set to be released together on one cassette tape.

A multifaceted artist, Kenneth James Gibson has been releasing music since the mid-90s and has dabbled in many genres including glitch, IDM, techno, dream pop and neo-psychedelia.

While a member of noise pop band Furry Things, Gibson began his solo electronic project, Eight Frozen Modules. The first 8FM album was released on Trance Syndicate in 1997. Following the second 8FM release, Gibson began his glitchy minimal techno project under the alias [a]pendics.shuffle in 2004.

He has released on labels such as Planet Mu, Orac Records, Shockout, and Mutant Sniper. His most recent work prior to his forthcoming Detroit Underground release’ was released in 2018 on Kompakt under his own name and is titled ‘In the Fields of Nothing.’

Today, Gibson is one half of well-known Americana band, The Toler Gibson Band. The band finds it’s roots in classic country and folk. They are currently working on their first album.
